FTA / APSA - ADVOCACY

SELECT COMMITTEE ON PRODUCTIVITY IN AUSTRALIA

Freight supply chains
The freight and logistics industry is an essential component of Australia's economy. However, global and domestic freight disruptions continue to destabilise the supply chain, leading to congestion, delays and higher costs. Productivity growth in the industry has experienced either limited growth or a decline in most years since 2003–04
  • How can fit-for-purpose freight infrastructure encourage productivity growth and economic dynamism?
  • How has disrupted freight supply chains impacted Australia's infrastructure resilience?
  • Would harmonised freight and logistics regulations better support Australia's economy?

FTA / APSA - OUT & ABOUT

Catch up with dnata

Amanda Bradfield and John Park recently met with Ronald Adrian, Client Relationship Manager – Cargo at dnata.

We spoke about the ever changing shifts between air and sea freight, and how airports (and ports!) are coping with increasing volumes.

Separately, we also had an interesting chat about the aircraft operated by Antonov Airlines, a truly remarkable fleet,

built for moving some of the most unusual and oversized cargo around the world.

FTA / APSA - IN THE MEDIA

DCN - INDUSTRY OPINION: Stepping up

Tom Jensen, General Manager – Freight Policy & Operations at Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers' Association (APSA), outlines APSA's appointment as Vice Chair of the Asian Shippers' Alliance (ASA) for 2025–2027 and why the elevation strengthens Australia's influence in regional and global shipping advocacy at a time of escalating costs, declining service reliability and

and increasing regulatory complexity across international supply chains. READ MORE

ACROSS BORDERS

We would like to extend our thanks to Alexander Millman - Special Counsel, Mills Oakley for his article in the recent Across Borders Annual Review 2025.

"The critical question turns on what it means for a person to be "engaged in" Australia. Given that the provision distinguishes between the act of "being engaged" and the performance of work, this is taken to mean the place where the contractual relationship between the employer and the employee is formed."
