IFAM - EMERGENCY FREIGHT SUPPORT EXTENDED TO HELP AUSTRALIAN BUSINESSES
This extension has now been officially confirmed, with the Australian Government announcing that IFAM will receive an additional $260.9 million to continue operations until 30 June 2022, with an operational tail to the end of July 2022. For more information about the extension, please refer to the IFAM webpage - FTA / APSA commentary available HERE

$200,000 SEIZURE A CHILLY REMINDER FOR IMPORTERS

A joint operation by the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment and the Australian Border Force has led to the seizure of over $200,000 worth of potentially hazardous refrigeration equipment imported without a licence.

ABF officers seized 100 packages in Melbourne in May 2021 after a tip-off that the Victorian-based importer did not have the required licence under the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Act 1989 READ MORE.

CUSTOMS DUTY RATES FOR TOBACCO AND TOBACCO PRODUCTS – SEPTEMBER 2021
Australian Customs Notice 2021/34 sets out the arrangements for the excise-equivalent customs duty rates on tobacco and tobacco products, as a result of the Average Weekly Ordinary Time Earnings (AWOTE) number released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics on 19 August 2021

REINSTATEMENT OF ITALIAN TREATMENT PROVIDER
The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (the department) has issued Industry Advice Notice 185-2021 advising of the reinstatment of Italian treatment provider - Centro Disinfestazione Livornese Srl (CDL) (AEI: IT4004SB) 
POSTCODE RECLASSIFICATION - BURNSIDE QLD 4560
The suburb of Burnside QLD, 4560 has been reclassified from rural to a split rural/ metropolitan postcode.  A small section of Burnside adjacent to the current Nambour metropolitan area has been reclassified to metropolitan with the rest of the suburb remaining rural. This reclassification confirms that rural tailgate inspections are no longer required for goods being delivered to this new metropolitan area, effective from 27 August 2021 - READ MORE
KHAPRA BEETLE - CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERE TREATMENT
To assist in preparing stakeholders for the planned changes for Phase 3, the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (the department) has updated the Phase 3 web page to include additional information on the controlled atmosphere treatment option.

To ensure the controlled atmosphere treatment is practical and fit for purpose, the department is releasing a draft methodology for public consultation.

the department recognises the commencement date of 30 September 2021 is fast approaching and the importance of providing industry with the final version of the methodology so that it can be incorporated into supply chains.

As such, the department is requesting feedback on the draft methodology to Offshoretreatments@agriculture.gov.au by COB 12 September 2021.  The department expect to publish the final version of the methodology on 16 September 2021.
