LA NINA STRIKES AGAIN
Port Botany was hit by a flash storm late yesterday afternoon (4 January 2021) impacting at all stevedore operations. Hutchison terminal have requested an 'unforseen event' to be exempt of Port Botany Landside Improvement Strategy (PBLIS) penalties for their extended closure overnight - further updates will be posted at www.FTAlliance.com.au
EMPTY CONTAINERS - SHORT TERM RELIEF & LONGER TERM REFORM
Members are reporting a continuation of significant congestion at Sydney and Melbourne empty container parks through several major shipping lines resulting in large scale re-directions, staged movements and delays.

PORT BOTANY ON TRACK TO SUPPORT NSW
Thank you to NSW PORTS for their commentary in the most recent edition of our member magazine, Across Borders.
The first stage involves $190 million investment at Patrick Terminals – Sydney AutoStrad, with $120 million from NSW Ports to deliver on-dock rail infrastructure and $70 million from Patrick Terminals to deliver automated rail operating equipment. The project commenced in 2019 and will double the existing portside rail capacity to deliver 1.5 million TEU when it is complete in 2023. The project will deliver significant benefits for importers and exporters with 33% faster turnaround times, decreased reliance on truck transportation and increased rail windows.
