SPRING 2020 EDITION OF ACROSS BORDERS
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY – 15 years since the ICS implementation
Australian importers, exporters and trade logistics providers have built up resilience in dealing with trade wars, recessions, major industrial disputes and more recently dealing with a combination of a global pandemic, port congestion and operational restrictions.

While all have had major impacts, one of the most significant events in living memory for our industry was the flawed implementation of the Australian Customs Service (Customs) Integrated Cargo System (ICS) 15 years ago.

Customs adopted a "big bang" approach, replacing import cargo reporting, declaration and clearance systems overnight – out with the old and in with the new on Wednesday 12 October 2005.

I took the opportunity of re-living some of those memories (part of my ongoing therapy) in the Spring 2020 edition of our Across Borders magazine - article available HERE
