 SURCHARGE SURVEY

Help Shape Global Advocacy on Shipping Line Surcharges

Dear *|FNAME|*

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA), the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) and the New Zealand Council of Cargo Owners (NZCCO) are collaborating under the banner of the Global Shippers Forum (GSF) Asia-Pacific Working Group.

At the last working group meeting, discussion centred on the forecast increase in shipping capacity and a commensurate decrease in freight rates. While this outcome would be welcomed, precedent suggests such an outcome also leads to the implementation of shipping line-imposed surcharges to offset projected.

To assist in our advocacy activity to achieve a fairer and more predictable international trade environment, we encourage members to complete the following survey:

Why Participate?

Your input will directly support advocacy efforts at national and international levels, helping us to:
  • Highlight examples of disproportionate or unclear surcharges
  • Push for fairer, more transparent practices by shipping lines
  • Advocate for regulatory and contractual reforms
By completing this short survey, you'll contribute to the evidence base needed to support industry reform – and ensure your voice is heard as part of global representation through the GSF.

The survey takes just a few minutes to complete. Toward the end, you'll have the option to provide your contact details if you're willing to be contacted for a follow-up discussion. We're keen to hear first-hand experiences and examples to help reinforce our advocacy.

Thank you for your continued support.
