WISTA / ICS Industry Night  - Perth

Last night, Bianca Flint and Amanda Bradfield attended the WISTA / ICS Industry Night at the stunning Matilda Bay restaurant
The highlight of the evening was an insightful presentation by Mr. Punit Oza, President of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, titled:
"Tariffs, Trade & Turmoil: Managing Geopolitical Risks and Their Impact on Shipping."

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with industry peers, gain valuable insights, and support a great cause, with all ticket sales and the support of generous sponsors going directly to the Mission to Seafarers

Wesfarmers catch up

Last week after attending the Westpac - International Trade Series Breakfast -  Amanda Bradfield and John Park meet with Jon Martin, Group Procurement Principal -  Wesfarmers Group whilst he was on one of his regular trips to the west.

Whilst we have spoken on teams it was great to have a face to face chat about his new role within the Wesfarmers group and the varied business divisions he now works with.

International Trade & Trade Finance in the Digital Economy Conference

Sal Milici, General Manager Trade Policy & Operations - FTA | APSA recently attended the above forum held in Melbourne. The opening address was made by Dr Prudence Gordon Gordon, Executive Director of ACITI—the Australian Centre for International Trade and Investment , an independent, non-profit institution dedicated to advancing Australia's global economic engagement through research, insight, and cross-sector collaboration .

The day was full of high-calibre discussions—on digital trade, trade finance, policy, compliance and the intersection of technology and global commerce.

Tom Jensen had the pleasure of recently catching up with Marc Hussey from FTA member Qube Logistics.

Qube is Australia's largest integrated logistics provider, with operations spanning ports, terminals, rail, warehousing and intermodal hubs — keeping freight moving across every major corridor.

The discussion touched on recent industry changes, and how stack runs have helped Qube Logistics successfully sidestep terminal bottlenecks.

On the lighter side — Marc and the team can also help with quality company-branded merch, so worth keeping them in mind when you're lining up your next batch of gifts!

Congestion at Kwinana Bulk Jetty causing $70 million demurrage

The Kwinana Industries Council is calling for urgent action to update Kwinana Bulk Jetty, the state's biggest import facility.

The council has released a new report 'The Critical Case for Expanding Kwinana Bulk Jetty', which says Cockburn Sound has become an expensive parking lot for vessels bringing vital products into the state.

"Industry has been clear: the bottlenecks at KBJ are imposing unwanted and unnecessary costs across the economy - not just for business, but for every West Australian who relies on strong jobs, a diversified economy, and efficient infrastructure.

"Kwinana Bulk Jetty is the critical gateway for fuels, fertilisers, and chemicals that helps power many sectors of the WA economy." READ MORE (story credit DCN)
