Interesting times ahead ... the plan sets an expectation that vessels will be privately owned and operate on a commercial basis -and available for requisition by the Defence Forces in times of national need, whether that be natural disaster or times of conflict.

We note Labor's intention to establish a taskforce with a broad range of stakeholders to work through the detail of the plan. In parallel to this commitment, it would make sense for the Federal Government's Productivity Review on shipping to have an expanded remit.
