Committee for Dandenong (C4D) |
|
FTA / APSA was proud to represent members at yesterday's Committee for Dandenong (C4D) event, which included the official release of an independent study commissioned by Regional Development Australia (Southern Melbourne) into the benefits of a large 'Inland Port' (Intermodal Terminal) development in Dandenong South.
The report by consultants Jacobs concluded that the inland port facility and associated Port Rail Shuttle service would save South East based importers and exporters between 16- 37% in port related supply chain costs, as well as associated environmental, economic and supply-chain efficiency benefits. APSA recognises that any project that reduces the costs of trade and increases supply-chain efficiency should be seriously considered for support and welcomes the release of this report along the recent Federal and Victorian State Government announcement regarding the commitment of $58M of rail funding to connect much needed intermodal terminals in Melbourne's key industrial areas. 1.9.2017 - NEW ZEALAND CUSTOMS RELEASE ISSUE 421 |
|
Global Finance Report WEEKLY REPORT Non-Farm Payrolls missed expectations, 156,000 v expected 180,000, as Unemployment crept up to 4.4%. This was a disappointing number and has followed some softer economic data coming during the past week. The University of Michigan Confidence also showed some slippage, relieving pressure on the Fed to raise rates, while the Dow regained 22,000. The softer data also lead to a release of pressure on interest rates and the Dollar. The GBP rose to 1.2950, while the EUR traded 1.1850, with flat EU PMI data releases. The AUD held 0.7950, supported by strong commodity prices, while the NZD traded 0.7150. The NZD has been under extreme pressure, of late, as polls indicate the left wing Labour party may regain office. The coming week is swimming in an ocean of economic data releases and Central Bank rate decisions. Central Bank commentary, accompanying the decisions, will drive local markets and the RBA will kick off today! | |

This has largely been achieved via the Port Botany Landside Improvement (PBLIS) regulation which prescribes that compensation is payable to or from stevedores and transport operators for failure in meeting the Mandatory Standards ... read more |
