FTA / APSA engagement with Minister for Agriculture

On Monday 6 November 2023, FTA / APSA responded to recent correspondence from the Minister for Agriculture, the Hon Murray Watt, addressing industry reporting performance, biosecurity systems and process reforms, interim communications, import cost recovery and broader supply chain costs. READ MORE

Minister Horne supports advocacy for reform

Over the course of this year, a matter discussed at length has been for the need for the Federal Government to respond to the findings of the Productivity Commission (PC) review of Australia's Maritime Logistics System. Today, 8 November 2023, FTA / APSA received a copy of correspondence from Minister Horne to the Assistant Federal Treasurer. READ MORE

DP World exorbitant increase to landside fees - 1 Jan 2024

Last week DP World announced a range of exorbitant landside fee increases that will take effect from 1 January 2024. Paul Zalai, the Director of Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Secretariat of the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) has made the case to the Federal Government that it is not sustainable for Australian exporters and importers to absorb rapidly increasing of landside charges, totalling more than one billion dollars annually, where there is no ability to influence service or price. MEDIA RELEASE |  READ MORE

Paul & Caroline Zalai (pictured left) were privileged to participate in the Röhlig Logistics celebration of 50 years of operation in Australia in Newcastle and engage with keynote speaker, the inspirational Mark Hughes (Mark Hughes Foundation).  WiseTech Global (ASX:WTC), developer of leading logistics execution software CargoWise, has announced it has acquired Sistemas Casa, a provider of customs and international trade software solutions in Mexico.  Sistemas Casa's customers include customs brokers who operate on behalf of global freight forwarders including DHL, UPS and FedEx and Mexico-based exporters such as Pemex – a state-owned petroleum company. READ MORE
