- The Biosecurity Authority of Fiji has confirmed that its previous import requirements for fall armyworm have been rescinded.
- Additional declarations confirming freedom from fall armyworm are no longer required on phytosanitary certificates.
- The import conditions for the relevant horticulture export commodities have been updated in the Manual of Importing Country Requirements (Micor).
Background
In 2024, IAN 2024-18 advised of new import requirements introduced by Fiji to address the risk of fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) in host commodities. These included targeted inspections and fumigation of sweetcorn in husk.
The Biosecurity Authority of Fiji has since confirmed that these requirements are no longer required. IAN 2024-18 has therefore been rescinded.
