Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) is aware that the recent communication issued by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) concerning the suspension of an Approved Arrangement (AA) Class 19 accredited person's accreditation has generated considerable concern amongst memebers. Several members contacted FTA after receiving the email, expressing concern that the notice may have implied that recipients were under scrutiny or that the matter had some broader connection to their accreditation status.FTA has subsequently spoken with DAFF, which has confirmed that the email was intended as general advice to accredited persons only and was distributed as a reminder of the responsibilities and obligations associated with AA Class 19 accreditation.DAFF has further advised that the notice was not directed at recipients of the email, nor was it intended to suggest that any action was required from accredited persons beyond continuing to meet their existing compliance obligations.Recognising the concerns raised by industry, DAFF has advised FTA that a follow-up communication will be issued to provide further clarification.FTA appreciates DAFF's willingness to provide this clarification and understands that the department's intention was to reinforce the importance of maintaining the integrity of the accreditation framework and compliance with biosecurity requirements.
