Dates for the next Continued Biosecurity Competency (CBC) activity for Approved Arrangement Class 19 accredited persons have now been published.
The second CBC 2026-27/02 activity will be available from
Tuesday, 13 October 2026
The a
ctivity includes both a learning and assessment component
and will be delivered through the department's education and training platform, Learnhub ONLY.
Important:
All accredited persons must complete the CBC activity by
Tuesday, 10 November 2026.

FTA conducted two days of site tours at Menzies Aviation's WSI facility, giving members clear insight into user experiences, operational readiness and the commercial models that will shape Sydney's expanding airfreight landscape.
With Singapore Airlines' inaugural WSI service set for 23 November 2026 and freighter activity expected soon, FTA continues to lead national engagement ahead of the Australian Air Freight Summit early next year –

Last week
John Park
attended the opening of the new
Aurizon
freight terminal at Kewdale in Western Australia. Officially opened by
Rita Saffioti MLA
, Deputy Premier, Treasurer and Minister for Transport and Major Infrastructure the facility is strategically located in Perth's key freight and logistics precinct, the purpose-built terminal is designed to accommodate longer trains and move more freight between Western Australia and the eastern states.
The facility can accommodate trains up to 1.8 kilometers in length and with an 18.8 hectare site there is opportunity for co-location of logistics operations on the precinct - many thanks to

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) members are invited to attend an upcoming seminar hosted by partner law firm Mills Oakley as part of Australian Arbitration Week 2026.

Freight study to help with planning, minister says
VICTORIA more than retains its pole position in Australia's freight network, according to the latest Container Logistics Chain Study released by the state's Minister for Ports and Freight Melissa Horne.
Ms Horne says
the study
provides a clearer picture of how Victoria's freight system operates, and will support planning for future growth.

Port of Melbourne upgrades Appleton Dock to handle dry bulk commodities
The Port of Melbourne has announced a new partnership to strengthen Victoria's position in the critical minerals supply chain through rail investment and port infrastructure upgrades at Appleton Dock.
The port, in partnership with Qube, Australian Amalgamated Terminals (AAT) and the Victorian government, has upgraded the infrastructure at Appleton Dock to transition the facility to handle dry bulk commodities.

Air shippers reluctant to commit to long-term capacity, Xeneta says
GLOBAL air freight volumes delivered a month of "steady growth" in September, but shippers remain cautious of long-term capacity commitments, industry analysts Xeneta say.
September's demand increase continued the upward trend seen in August and July, when volumes rose +6% and +5%, slowing anticipated rate reductions.
Global air cargo spot rates averaged USD 3.10 per kg in September, +27% higher than the same month last year.
