Purpose

This Market Access Advice (MAA) is to notify exporters of changes to the certification requirements for consignments of low-risk products containing meat exported from Australia to Canada.

Key points

  • Canada's Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has notified the department of changes to the certification requirements for low-risk products containing meat currently exported using the NX188B (NEXDOC).
  • Products that fall under this category are edible non-prescribed goods including but not limited to:
    • Shelf stable dried soup-mix products, bouillon cubes, meat extracts, pasta sauces, jus and other shelf stable products containing meat.
  • The department understands that due to CFIA's updated certification requirements for these goods, the NX188B (NEXDOC) will no longer be accepted by Canadian authorities for these commodities.
  • CFIA has advised that no further consignments of these products be exported to Canada until new agreed certification has been finalised.
  • The department will provide further updates as information becomes available.
