Patrick Terminals announces major fleet investment with Kalmar

Patrick Terminals has announced a major fleet investment with Kalmar, ordering 10 hybrid straddle carriers for its Melbourne terminal and 12 hybrid AutoStrads for its Sydney AutoStrad Terminal.

The new equipment is scheduled to be delivered by the second quarter of 2027.

The investment forms part of Patrick Terminals' 10-year strategic partnership with Kalmar and supports the terminal operator's broader decarbonisation program. The hybrid power units are expected to reduce fuel consumption and emissions across two of Patrick's busiest terminals while maintaining operational performance and equipment reliability.

Patrick Terminals CEO Michael Jovicic said: "This order represents a further step in the 10-year strategic partnership between Kalmar and Patrick Terminals. The Kalmar AutoStrad plays an important role in operations at our Brisbane and Sydney terminals, and this order will further our strategy of delivering superior value to our customers."

Patrick Terminals handles more than 3.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units annually across its Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle terminals.

The company said it remained committed to investing in advanced technology that strengthens the efficiency and resilience of Australian supply chains while reducing the environmental impact of its operations.
