The Brown Marmorated Stink Bug: Keeping Australia Free of BMSB

23 July 2026  2:00pm AEST

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) is pleased to remind members of the upcoming webinar supporting the Biosecurity Business Pledge Australia — a collaborative initiative between the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) and Biosecurity Tasmania. With less than two months until the commencement of the next BMSB risk season, industry participants are encouraged not to miss this informative webinar featuring DAFF's Caryn Scott.

Learn what the department observed during the 2025-26 season, where compliance issues most commonly emerge, and what importers and logistics providers should be focusing on as preparations for September ramp up.

The Biosecurity Business Pledge Australia is designed to strengthen Australia's biosecurity by supporting businesses to proactively prevent the entry and spread of pests, weeds and diseases. By taking the pledge, businesses can embed practical biosecurity measures into day-to-day operations, helping to reduce risk, protect business continuity and build resilience across the supply chain.

Participation in the pledge is free and provides access to guidance and resources to support effective biosecurity risk management. Importantly, it also allows businesses to demonstrate a visible commitment to biosecurity to customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.

As part of this initiative, members are invited to attend a webinar titled The brown marmorated stink bug: keeping Australia free of BMSB to be held on Thursday, 23 July from 2:00pm to 2:45pm AEST

NATIONAL BIOSECURITY WEEK 24 TO 30 AUGUST 2026

NATIONAL BIOSECURITY WEEK

National Biosecurity Week is an opportunity to raise awareness that biosecurity is everyone's responsibility. Not just something that happens at Australia's borders. It highlights the important role individuals, businesses, industry and communities play in protecting our environment, agriculture, food supply and economy from pests, diseases and invasive weeds. By encouraging simple, practical biosecurity actions, the week helps strengthen Australia's ability to prevent, detect and respond to biosecurity threats, safeguarding the things we value most now and in the future.
