DIGITAL PRE-ARRIVAL PROCESSING AND PAPERLESS TRADE

WEBINAR - 14 May  2026 6:00pm-7:30pm AEST

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) wish to highlight an upcoming international webinar hosted by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), in partnership with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the World Customs Organization (WCO).

As Australian industry continues to navigate increasing compliance obligations, data quality expectations, cargo intervention activity and ongoing pressure to improve supply chain efficiency, the global focus on digital border processing and trusted electronic data exchange continues to accelerate.

This webinar will examine practical implementation of digital pre-arrival processing systems and the role of electronic data exchange in accelerating border clearance outcomes.

Key discussion topics will include:

  • cargo advance declaration requirements;
  • risk management and targeting frameworks;
  • electronic data exchange between border agencies and industry;
  • interoperability and standardisation across jurisdictions;
  • reduction of paper-based processes at borders; and
  • emerging trust mechanisms supporting modern border operations.

The subject matter aligns closely with ongoing Australian discussions relating to trade modernisation, Single Window concepts, digitisation of border processes, Australian Trusted Trader arrangements, cargo reporting reform and the increasing use of data-driven compliance models.

Given the ongoing focus by regulators on accurate and timely cargo data, members may find value in understanding how international administrations are approaching pre-arrival processing and paperless trade facilitation initiatives.
