NEW CP QUESTION - SOAP AND COSMETICS

Wednesday, May 6, 2026

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) would like to advise of the recent introduction of new Community Protection (CP) Question 835 relating to soap and cosmetic products.

Following engagement with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF), the following clarification has been provided:
  • The new profile questions form part of a planned linkage to the Compliance-Based Intervention Scheme (CBIS), which is scheduled to take effect from 30 June 2026
  • The questions have been implemented earlier than expected as part of a trial, to ensure functionality ahead of CBIS integration
  • formal DAFF industry notice is not scheduled until 1 June 2026
  • In the interim, DAFF will issue a short notice shortly to inform industry of these trial questions prior to the formal publication
What this means for industry:
  • Members may already encounter CP Question 835 in Integrated Cargo System (ICS) lodgements
  • The question should be treated as part of a trial phase, pending formal DAFF guidance
  • Further clarification and formal requirements will be confirmed in the upcoming DAFF notice
We will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as further information becomes available.

If you have any immediate operational concerns, please feel free to contact us via email to support@FTAlliance.com.au
