DAFF - IIAN 57-2026: Port of Sydney first point of entry determination has been varied

Friday, April 17, 2026

17 April 2026

Who does this notice affect?

First point of entry (FPOE) operators, vessel operators, shipping agents, importers, brokers and others.

What has changed?

The biosecurity FPOE determination for the Port of Sydney has been varied - Biosecurity (First Point of Entry—Port of Sydney) Determination 2019.

As a result, a new biosecurity entry point, Jones Bay Superyacht Marina, has been added for the following:

  • Non-commercial vessels
  • Non-commercial vessel baggage
  • Non-commercial vessel waste

Permission must be obtained from the department prior to any arrival at Port of Sydney that is not permitted by the FPOE determination.

It is the obligation of the person in charge of a vessel to ensure that the vessel complies with the relevant FPOE determination. Operators and other stakeholders should consult relevant FPOE determinations to ensure that their proposed vessel or goods movements are compliant with the current determinations.

Please follow the link to determination provided above. Determinations can also be found via the search tool on the Federal Register of Legislation website.
