Victorian Freight Decarbonisation Program

Electric Truck Breakfast Workshop & Showcase

Tuesday 14 April 2026

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) are pleased to advise that our industry colleagues at Container Transport Alliance Australia (CTAA) have extended an invitation to FTA/APSA members to attend a Breakfast Workshop and Electric Truck Showcase in partnership with NewVolt.

This practical session will focus on the recently launched $8 million Victorian Freight Decarbonisation Co-investment (VFDC) Program, including guidance on how to prepare an effective Expression of Interest (EOI) ahead of the fast-approaching deadline.

Event Details

  • Date: Tuesday, 14 April 2026
  • Time: 7:30am arrival for 8:15am start (concluding 10:00am)
  • Venue: Yarraville Club, 135 Stephen St, Yarraville VIC
  • Breakfast: Provided (bacon & egg rolls, with vegetarian/GF options, plus coffee/tea)
  • Co-hosted by: CTAA and NewVolt

Key highlights include:

  • Overview of funding opportunities (up to $300,000) available to support:
    • Low and zero-emission freight vehicles (purchase or lease)
    • Vehicle fit-outs and retrofits
    • Charging infrastructure and site upgrades
    • Alternative fuel trials
  • Practical guidance on drafting and lodging an EOI (closing 4pm, 22 April 2026)
  • Worked financial examples demonstrating the net cost of electric vehicle adoption after grant support
  • Introduction to a potential "Electric Trucking Starter Program" (vehicle and charging bundled into a single monthly fee)
  • Electric Truck Showcase with the opportunity to view vehicles suited to urban freight operations and engage with suppliers

Given the limited timeframe between the workshop and the EOI closing date, members considering participation in the VFDC program are encouraged to attend.

Alternative option – Webinar
For those unable to attend in person, NewVolt will host a supporting webinar:

  • Date: Friday, 10 April 2026
  • Time: 11:00am – 12:00pm (AEST)

This session will cover grant eligibility, EOI requirements, and available support.

FTA/APSA encourages members—particularly freight forwarders and operators managing heavy vehicle fleets—to take advantage of this opportunity to better understand the funding program and associated commercial pathways.
