Qantas Freight - Storage of shipments containing dry ice

Friday, March 20, 2026

Qantas Freight is reiterating its handling requirements for shipments containing Dry Ice (Carbon Dioxide CO2) UN 1845 at Qantas Freight managed facilities.

Shipments containing Dry Ice will not be stored in cool rooms or chillers. We will be formally reinforcing this policy from 26 March 2026.

This applies to both loose freight and shipper-built (BUP) units. Customers are asked to ensure that any goods shipped with dry ice are adequately packaged to maintain required temperatures without reliance on cool room storage.

This update supports safer handling practices by reducing the risk of carbon dioxide build-up in areas with limited ventilation. Customers needing support are encouraged to contact their Qantas Freight Account Manager.
