Fremantle Traffic Bridge Update - No. 1

Last week in the lead up to the closure of the Fremantle Traffic Bridge, John Park (Head of Business Operations - FTA/APSA) provided commentary on Channel 9 News
SEE HERE

This commentary follows on from the work undertaken by an industry group consisting of Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA), Container Transport Alliance Australia (CTAA) and Western Roads Federations (WRF) - the group, chaired by John Park has led the way in convening meetings of industry participants from stevedores, empty container parks, transport companies, rail operator and empty container parks.

To assist in minimising the delays / costs we suggest members use the industry guide in talking with their clients to look outside the box for operational soultions.

Ongoing advocacy and engagement

FTA, CTAA and WRF will continue coordinated engagement with government agencies, other industry groups and the media to highlight operational and cost impacts and to advocate for practical, non-divisive policy settings.

The group will also continue to address the need for approval of Higher Productivity Freight Vehicles (HPFVs)

  • Higher Productivity Freight Vehicles (HPFVs) - developing and presenting to the Minister a strengthened case for a trial of HPFVs (including loaded 40'/40' combinations) to and from the Port of Fremantle, limited to access routes that do not compete with rail catchment areas.

Further updates will be provided as discussions progress.
