| The Australian Border Force (ABF) has published ACN 2026/03, advising that new requirements for violent extremist material, prohibited symbols, and objectionable goods will apply from 22 January 2026. The changes include: - 'Violent extremist material' and 'prohibited symbols' are now objectionable goods under the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations 1956 and Customs (Prohibited Exports) Regulations 1958.
- ABF officers now have the authority to seize objectionable goods and take enforcement action.
- The previous definition of commercial quantities of objectionable goods has been removed, meaning penalties may now apply to any quantity of objectionable goods.
These amendments are enacted under the Combatting Antisemitism, Hate and Extremism (Firearms and Customs Laws) Act 2026. To view the complete ACN, please click HERE. |
