CargoWise Value Pack Update - Functionality, Pricing and Member Advocacy

Friday, January 16, 2026

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) generally refrains from intervening in commercial arrangements between members and their suppliers. That said, the scale of member feedback regarding the CargoWise Value Pack (CVP) and the introduction of the "Transitional Pricing Protection" (TPP) has necessitated our involvement.

We are grateful for the direct engagement of WiseTech Global (WTG) CEO, Zubin Appoo who has been highly responsive to every FTA enquiry and for his prompt and active engagement with members directly.

FTA will continue to engage directly with WTG to seek greater clarity on the duration of the TPP and to advocate for fair, consistent and transparent pricing outcomes.

Below is an overview of recent developments and feedback received from members:

CVP OVERVIEW: FUNCTIONALITY, COSTS AND COST RECOVERY

In parallel to our webinars with WTG executives on 22 October and 8 December 2025, FTA provided a consolidated member update on 3 December 2025 – refer HERE.

Summary:
  • WTG stated the new CVP would operate as a community-based model, offering a broad range of functionality with all customers charged the same standardised costs.
  • WTG also articulated a new pricing paradigm, actively encouraging customers to recover the CVP costs from their clients on a nett, transactional basis.
  • WTG has stated that the current and forthcoming functionality is the result of almost USD $1 billion in research and development investment over the past five years, focused on delivering measurable outcomes across automation, efficiency, compliance and risk reduction.
  • WTG has assured FTA it will continue to invest heavily to deliver increasing value over time, all made available through the CVP.
REGULATORY ACTION SIGNALS INCREASED MARKET COMPETITION

Following an Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) investigation, members welcomed the announcement on 31 December 2025 that WTG will divest its acquisition of Expedient Software – refer HERE.

Summary:
  • While this outcome ensures a level of competition, it also sends a positive signal to the market that WTG is unlikely to pursue further acquisitions of Australian freight forwarding software providers.
  • New software providers are scheduled to enter the market this year and as such the ACCC result is an important development.
  • FTA does not anticipate any further regulatory intervention, with the ACCC viewing competition as the most effective mechanism to support the international trade sector, ensure high-quality services, and place downward pressure on pricing over time.

NEW TRANSITIONAL PRICING PROTECTION AND MEMBER EXPERIENCES

The release of WTG's December invoices revealed the introduction of TPP for some customers.

Summary:
  • This adjustment aligns the total amount payable with what the customer would have paid under the previous Seat + Transaction Licence (STL) model.
  • Depending on CVP transaction volumes, the adjustment may be either positive or negative.
  • It is anticipated that members who followed WTG's recommendation to cost recover on a transactional basis and subsequently received a month-end credit via the TPP would be satisfied with the outcome.
  • Some members who received a month-end debit TPP line item have expressed strong concern believing they would only be charged on a transactional CVP arrangements.
  • Other members who received a month-end debit TPP line item have accepted they are paying the same total as before, can now recover most costs through disbursements and / or recover costs similar to how they handled STL fees.
  • The common frustration across most members is the additional accounting complexities the CVP and TPP has generated.
  • While FTA understands the TPP will be reviewed periodically, its continuation and scope remain entirely at the discretion of WTG.
Members are encouraged to provide confidential feedback to pzalai@FTAlliance.com.au regarding their individual experiences with CVP and TPP so that we can represent industry concerns with evidence-based advocacy.
