Purpose

Reminder: Your access to TRACE is changing TODAY.

Key points

This is a reminder you that how you access TRACE is changing today. You must now use the Export Service to manage your exports in TRACE.

TRACE will be unavailable from 9am AEST today until the release is complete. We will notify you once TRACE is available again.

Follow the steps below to be ready to continue using TRACE once it is available again.

 
Create your Export Service Account
 

 
Find out who in your business is a Principal Authority or Authorisation Administrator in Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM). This is a person who is authorised to act for your business with the ATO.
 

 
If you are:
 

 You need to:

 
Principal Authority or Authorisation Administrator

 

  • Open the myID app on your phone and check your identity strength is 'Strong'. If not, follow the steps to upgrade it.
  • Log into RAM to check if your business is already linked. If it isn't, follow the steps to link your business.
  • Go to the Export Service and create an account using your myID. To do this, click on the 'create an Export Service account using Digital ID' icon.
  • Add a business that is linked in RAM.
  • Invite others to act for your business in the Export Service.
  • Finally, follow the steps to add an email sign in option to your account. This will assist in ensuring your continued access to TRACE if MyID system experiences a system outage.

 

 
Other Users

 

  • You will receive an invitation email with a verification code when you are invited to act for the business by the Principal Authority or Authorisation Administrator.
  • Create an Export Service account using myID (recommended) or email sign in.
  • Accept the invitation.
  • Link an email sign in to your account, to ensure access to TRACE should MyID experience system outages.

 

 
What you need to do after the release

 
Once the release is complete, and you have an active Export Service account, follow the below steps to link your existing TRACE account

A TRACE user

 

  • Log into your Export Service account and navigate to your business dashboard.
  • Select the Export Systems sidebar then select TRACE.
  • If your Export Service account details match your TRACE record, your record will be claimed, and you will be redirected to the TRACE landing page.
  • If your details cannot be matched, you will be asked to provide and verify your email address linked to TRACE. Follow the steps on the screen to claim your account.
