Brisbane Airport - Upcoming Controlled Burn

A planned controlled burn is required within the next two months (by the end of September 2025) to manage emerging weed issues and reduce overall fire risk to the area adjacent to the western runway (Runway 01L/19R). This activity requires very specific weather conditions and will require the closure of the western runway during the burn. All flights will operate on the eastern runway. 

• Dates: Saturday and Sunday during August or September. Specific dates to be advised here on Thursday prior to the weekend scheduled. 

During this activity, smoke will be visible in the vicinity of Brisbane Airport by airport workers, businesses, passengers, road users and neighbouring communities. Brisbane Airport wants to assure everyone that this is a planned, controlled burn and will be under constant supervision.
