Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) have received advice from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) in relation to the commencement of the 2025-26 Brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB) Risk Season on 1 September 2025
There are no significant changes to the measures already in place, however, there has been some additions to the existing measures as follows:
- The Republic of Korea and Japan have been added to the emerging risk countries list; goods manufactured in and shipped from emerging risk countries still remain subject to random inspections, though treatment is still not required.
- Target high risk goods arriving as airfreight from United states of America and China will be subject to random inspection, though treatment of these goods will not be required.
- A new offshore treatment option for this season – Ethyl Formate.
- A new application process for both in transit goods and goods that have been rolled
The BMSB webpage has been updated to reflect the updated measures.
