Purpose

This Market Access Advice (MAA) is to notify stakeholders of the commencement of electronic certification (eCert) parallel exchange for milk and milk products exported to the Republic of Korea.

From 1 August 2025, certification for milk and milk products exported from Australia to the Republic of Korea will be issued via eCert parallel exchange.

This means that both a paper and electronic certificate will be issued for each completed Request for Export (REX). Exporters are not required to provide any additional information during the REX process, and certificates will continue to be generated as normal through NEXDOC.

Exporters will continue to be required to provide the original paper copy of the certificate to their importer until the department confirms via a new MAA that the parallel exchange is finalised. Once confirmed, certificates will be paperless and sent via eCert only. A further MAA will be issued at that time.

During this parallel exchange period, Korean importers are required to submit paper certificates and provide the corresponding eCert number into the electronic customs clearance system when declaring imports.

The eCert number is always same as the paper certificate number.

Micor

The Manual of Importing Country Requirements (Micor) will be updated to reflect this MAA. The department encourages users of Micor to subscribe to the Micor update service for a commodity-specific email that lists changes that have been made the preceding week.
