- International Air Transport Association
- International Pet and Animal Transportation Association
- Pet transport agents
- Private exporters of companion animals
Purpose To advise exporters of companion animals that the department strongly recommends attaching original export documentation to the animal's travel crate prior to export. Key points - Attaching original export documents to the animal's travel crate reduces the risk of them becoming separated from the animal during transit.
- If original documents are not presented with the animal upon arrival, this may cause a delay in the importing country.
Instructions - Original export documentation should preferably be attached to the animal's travel crate prior to export.
Background The department has received information that companion animals have experienced delays when original export documentation has not been attached to their crates. This has resulted in animals being held in post-arrival quarantine in the importing country while export documentation is reissued.
