Importers of imported marine meal

What has changed?

The department is running a verification activity on imported marine meal from June 2025 to 30 September 2025. 

This verification operation will help determine the merits of including imported marine meal for aquaculture use into the Compliance Based Intervention Scheme (CBIS). This will be accomplished by testing the effectiveness of the regulatory controls currently in place for imported marine meal. CBIS is a scheme that rewards importers or suppliers of eligible plant/animal products with risk-based intervention or a reduction in the volume of lines referred to the department for intervention.
