AMANDA BRADFIELD JOINS THE FTA TEAM - Head of International Freight & Logistics

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Amanda Bradfield in the national full-time role as Head of International Freight & Logistics.

Amanda is a highly respected and experienced supply chain professional who will play a vital role in supporting our ongoing membership growth and industry lead on communications, operational support and advocacy.

Growing our representative strength in Western Australia alongside John Park and Bianca Flint, Amanda will interface with Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) members as the national lead on transport logistics' policy and operational support.

Amanda commenced with FTA on Monday 28 April and can be contacted at abradfield@FTAlliance.com.au or mobile 0402 012 853.

VALE - Stuart McFarlane

A true gentleman of the industry, Stuart McFarlane was a long-serving executive at Yusen Logistics, during which time he also served as a director of AFIF. He later continued his contribution to the industry as an employee of AFIF and, following the merger, with IFCBAA, retiring in 2023 due to ill health.

Earlier this week, Stuart passed away. He will be fondly remembered for his professionalism, leadership, and the warmth he shared with colleagues across the freight and logistics community. His contribution to the industry leaves a lasting legacy.

Stuart's funeral service will be held this Friday, 2 May 2025, at 1:00pm at Northern Suburbs Memorial Gardens & Crematorium, 199 Delhi Road, North Ryde. A celebration of Stuart's life will follow from 2:30pm at The Royal Oak, 36 College Street, Balmain.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Stuart's family, friends, and colleagues at this difficult time.

Executive Lunch - Sydney

Thank you to Simone Peacock (BBus) and PayCargo for hosting an intimate executive lunch in Sydney with their clients / FTA freight forwarding members.

It was fascinating to hear from the chair of their advisory board David Cameron in terms of geopolitical and trade tensions (as well as his prediction around next summer's Ashes series). Lord Cameron served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2010-2016 and, more recently, as UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs 2023-2024.

While Lord Cameron has had an illustrious career, no doubt a new high was achieved today when he received his own limited-edition Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) beanie.
