DAFF - IIAN 126-2025: Information sessions for new self-service cargo status reports

Thursday, April 17, 2025

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) have received the following update from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) via import industry advice notice 126-2025 regarding upcoming information sessions to support the release of new self-service cargo status reports via the Biosecurity Portal.

These reports – covering 'Record of Services (Fees)' and Approved Arrangement Class 19.2 uptake and usage – are part of the department's commitment under the Simplified Targeting and Enhanced Processing Systems (STEPS) Program to improve cargo visibility and streamline reporting for industry stakeholders.

Who does this notice affect?

Biosecurity industry participants and accredited persons operating under Approved Arrangement Class 19, including self-reporting importers, who are interested in attending an information session on the upcoming release of new industry reporting via the Biosecurity Portal.

What has changed?

The department will soon provide two additional reports to industry through the Biosecurity Portal for all accredited persons operating under Approved Arrangement Class 19. These reports cover:

  • Record of services (fees), and
  • Approved Arrangement Class 19.2's uptake and usage.

The department is releasing these reports to complement the biosecurity cargo status tracker reporting released in November 2024.

This release delivers on commitments to improve consignment visibility for industry and was developed as part of the Simplified Targeting and Enhanced Processing Systems (STEPS) Program. STEPS is an investment in the department's imported cargo ICT systems and business processes aimed at enhancing Australia's biosecurity risk management by creating a faster, simpler and more integrated cargo clearance system.
