FTA / APSA - OUT & ABOUT

Exclusive Webinar with Saul Eslake - 29 April

The Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) team had the privilege of a lengthy discussion with Saul last week in regards to the upcoming webinar that promises to provide fascinating insights."

This is a must-attend event for anyone seeking to understand the rapidly changing economic landscape and how it may affect international trade and Australia's broader economic performance.

Brisbane member catch up

Tom Jensen caught up with Adele Greenhill at Powerhouse International QLD last week — one of our valued FTA members. They discussed.

• US tariffs – already influencing supply chain planning and adding cost pressures
• Terminal Access Charges – continuing to rise and impacting forwarders and importers across the board
• Vertical integration – raising questions around market access and competition for independents

Thanks again for the warm welcome and sharp insights, Adele — always a pleasure connecting with members on the frontline.

FTA / APSA - ADVOCACY

Anti-Dumping Commission meeting

Sal Milici, General Manager Trade Policy & Operations - FTA | APSA had the opportunity to meet with David Latina, Australia's Anti Dumping Commissioner, Department of Industry, Science and Resources alongside Russell Wiese of Customs and Global Trade Law, for a valuable discussion on key issues impacting the international trade and customs landscape. It was an great opportunity to highlight the vital role of customs brokers -  professionals on the frontline of trade compliance, ensuring goods move efficiently while navigating an increasingly complex regulatory environment.

The discussion also addressed some of the challenges facing the profession, including the need for a Dumping Ruling System to bring greater clarity and consistency to decision-making.

Importantly, we are exploring ways to better support Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) members in navigating the anti-dumping regime — ensuring they have the tools, insights, and guidance to stay compliant and competitive.
