Inspiring the Next Generation of Logistics Professionals – 'The Industry School' Edition

Last Friday, Tom Jensen had the pleasure of representing (FTA), speaking with a group of students from The Industry School during a session hosted at the Port of Brisbane. They explored career opportunities in freight forwarding and customs brokerage—critical roles that keep goods moving and global trade humming. The group showed great curiosity and asked thoughtful questions about what a future in logistics might hold.

A big thank you to Nicola Murray and the team at Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd for their lead in coordinating these sessions. Giving students access to real industry settings is how we inspire the next wave of logistics professionals. Let's keep building the pathway between education and logistics.

Victorian Innovation Mission for Container Transport

Bringing innovation to the freight and logistics sector is no small task, but initiatives like the Victorian Innovation Mission for Container Transport businesses are helping to make it happen.

Sal Milici representing Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) members and the broader industry, said it was a privilege to attend this event and chair the panel on Capitalising on the eCommerce Opportunity.

Startups play a crucial role in addressing industry challenges—delivering fresh ideas, cutting-edge technology, and scalable solutions that drive productivity, sustainability, and commercial success.

A special thanks to Kate Cornick of LaunchVic and Praveen Reddy Reddy, Executive Director of Freight Victoria, for leading this important initiative.

Huge appreciation also to Kathy Coultas for her outstanding organisation in the lead-up and on the day and of course Neil Chambers of Container Transport Alliance Australia (CTAA) for helping drive this and having a glass half full!

Looking forward to seeing how this mission fosters collaboration between startups and industry to shape the future of freight and logistics

ACROSS BORDERS

Many thanks to the
Kai Lincoln, Vice President Global Sustainability - SEKO Logistics for his commentary in the latest edition of the Across Borders magazine.

"Relying heavily on China for imports or as a manufacturing base could become riskier over time. Australian companies may need to diversify their supply chains, seeking new sources of goods in countries like Vietnam, India, or Indonesia."
