| Welcome to the final edition of Port of Brisbane News for 2024.
It's been a year of exciting development across the Port precinct and we were delighted to end the year cutting the ribbon on DSV Air & Sea's warehouse and container depot on Fisherman Islands, our fifth new property facility opening for 2024.
Our team headed west to Goondiwindi this month to meet with customers and supply chain partners, while back in Brisbane, PBPL was proud to take home the Environmental Award at the Daily Cargo News 2024 Australian Shipping & Maritime Industry Awards.
Next year's events calendar is taking shape and we invite port and industry stakeholders to register for the Lion H2 Energy – Hydrogen Information Day on Wednesday 5 February 2025. The agenda is now available with full details below.
Please also take note of the Christmas closures for the Port Office, Port Central Café, Brisbane Multimodal Terminal and the Weighbridge.
Finally, I wish you and your loved ones a very safe and happy holiday season.

DSV Air & Sea cuts ribbon in Fisherman Island facility Around 80 people gathered to celebrate the opening of DSV Air & Sea's new Port of Brisbane warehouse and container depot on Fisherman Islands yesterday. The new depot – delivered by PBPL with Principal Contractor McNab – enables the global logistics provider to streamline its Brisbane-based road and sea freight operations into a central location.
The team achieved strong sustainability outcomes, delivering an approximate 33% reduction in embodied carbon during construction (approximately 7,200 tonnes C02), driven by extensive use of low carbon concrete on internal and external pavements. Find out more on our website. |

PBPL wins Environmental Award for Green Button trial PBPL and DHI Seaport Pty Ltd took out the Environmental Award at The Daily Cargo News 2024 Australian Shipping & Maritime Industry Awards in November for our Green Button trial. Developed as part of our efforts to reduce scope 3 emissions, Green Button is a trial using technology developed by Port of Brisbane and DHI Seaport to optimise a vessel's target speed to reduce emissions as it travels through our ~90km shipping channel. It's been a collaborative effort between the Port, DHI Seaport, Maritime Safety Queensland and Poseidon Sea Pilots together with our shipping line customers Maersk and CMA CGM to trial this technology. |

PBPL sponsors 12th 'Bush to Port' race day PBPL has been a proud sponsor of the annual 'Bush to Port' race day and Community Fireworks event for many years in Goondiwindi and we were delighted to again support these events this year, which brings surrounding communities together.
Goondiwindi and the surrounding South Western Queensland region are vital agricultural hubs producing crops including cotton, wheat and sorghum. During FY24, approximately 1.7 million tonnes of agricultural seed related products were shipped in bulk and container vessels. The Port also handled over 63,000 TEU of cotton last year, a record volume. |

Channel Enhancement Project The Port of Brisbane is currently in the early stages of considering the future requirements of its shipping channel. The proposed 25-year Channel Enhancement Project aims to improve efficiency, reduce vessel emissions, and ensures the shipping channel servicing the port caters for the future needs of the global shipping market.
The Office of the Coordinator-General is currently preparing the draft terms of reference for the project's Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). When ready, the draft terms of reference will be released for public comment by the Coordinator-General, who will consider any comments on the draft prior to finalising.
Further information of the project is available on our website. |
