Offshore Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) Treatment Providers Scheme: treatment providers under review Fumigation Pest Management (AEI: SG4016SB) and National Fumigation (Charleston) (AEI: US4024SB)

Friday, September 15, 2023

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) wish to advise that the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (the department) has issued Industry Advice Notice 191-2023 advising of the review of suspension of Fumigation Pest Management (AEI: SG4016SB) and National Fumigation (Charleston) (AEI: US4024SB)

What has changed?

Following indicators of non-compliance, we have placed Fumigation Pest Management (AEI: SG4016SB) and National Fumigation (Charleston) (AEI: US4024SB) under review on Offshore BMSB Treatment Providers Scheme to ensure biosecurity risk is managed whilst a review into the providers take place.

The companies have been listed as 'under review' on List of Treatment Providers. The companies may no longer perform treatments on Australian and New Zealand bound consignments. The department may direct any consignments treated by Fumigation Pest Management (AEI: SG4016SB) and National Fumigation (Charleston) (AEI: US4024SB), including those in transit, for any action considered reasonable to manage the biosecurity risk posed.

The under review date is published on the summary of recent changes in the 'change date' column on the offshore treatment provider website.

As per the department's in-transit policy, all treatment certification issued by the treatment provider will be considered unacceptable from the under review date, regardless of the treatment/issue date on the treatment certificate. This includes certification issued both before and after the change in their status.

Consignments or goods are classified as 'in transit' when they have left the country of origin but have not yet been cleared through the border in Australia. Please refer to Biosecurity Import Conditions system (BICON) for onshore outcomes.
