IAN 2023-05: Fish and Eggs – Export Price Increase

Purpose

This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to notify industry that the prices will increase for the fish and egg exports arrangement as published in the 2022-23 cost recovery implementation statement (CRIS).
 

Summary of changes and key points

 
  • It is Australian Government policy to recover the cost of delivering export regulatory services.
  • The 2023-24 fish and egg export prices are set in legislation and come into effect on 1 July 2023.
  • A summary of the changes to prices is described in Table 1.
  • The fish and egg exports arrangement prices are also described in the cost recovery implementation statement: Fish and Egg Exports 2022-23 published in March 2023.
  • The 2022-23 CRIS describes our approach to managing cost recovery for fish and egg exports, including fees and charges, financial performance information and financial forecasts for 2023–24 and forward years.
  • Charging Guidelines have been updated to reflect 2023-24 prices and are available on our website.

Next Steps

  • We will regularly engage with stakeholders on the ongoing streamlining of cost recovery arrangements for export certification.
  • We will undertake annual reviews of the fish and egg exports arrangement. This will ensure expenses are aligned with revenue and identify efficiencies from reforms and government investments as quickly as possible.

Background

  • Stepped increases to regulatory fees and charges for the agricultural exports sector commenced in 2021-22.
  • The final increase will occur on 1 July 2023. Prices will continue to be reviewed annually and updated where a need is identified and approved by the government.
