We're always looking at ways we can reduce our environmental footprint – both in the air and
on the ground – and the Qantas Group has a target of net zero emissions by 2050. As an
interim target, we have initiatives in place to reduce carbon emissions by 25 per cent by 2030.
One way in which we can all work towards this is by using clear plastics where possible. Clear
plastics can be recycled in every state in Australia, which helps our target of zero general waste
(excluding quarantine waste) to landfill by 2030.
The Qantas Group also have targets of achieving zero single-use plastics by 2027 and zero
waste landfill by 2030. To help achieve these targets, MRA Consulting have conducted
assessments at our Sydney and Melbourne terminals to assist us in creating process
efficiencies that reduce our waste.
