Good morning,
It's pleasing to see more sunshine today as the clean-up continues.
Thanks to all members of the Port community who are heeding our messages around safety. This situation continues to evolve, and it's imperative we remain vigilant as we work together to ensure the port is safe for all those who work here.
Operational Update
- The Regional Harbour Master's Direction (head to the MSQ website to read more) remains in place, which means there are no vessel movements in or out of the port at this time. The situation is constantly being assessed by the RHM, for the port more broadly and on a case-by-case basis
- River velocity and water turbidity remain challenging for all on-water operations; however conditions are gradually improving.
- The RHM and PBPL continue to work closely to identify risks associated with the resumption of port operations. PBPL survey vessels were on-water yesterday and will return again today, continuing to assess navigational depth and the potential for debris obstruction. While it remains early in this process, survey data is improving as river conditions improve.
- Following a meeting held yesterday by MSQ with river and port stakeholders regarding the removal of debris in the river, PBPL vessels will focus on removing debris from around the port precincts. As the river gradually slows towards the river mouth, we are seeing more debris around Fisherman Islands in particular. It will be removed when deemed safe to do so.
We continue to work closely with MSQ and the RHM on all matters relating to this emergency response. As the situation unfolds, we update you as soon as possible.
Kind regards, and stay safe
