*** CLARIFICATION *** Renewal to Approved Arrangements

Tuesday, February 15, 2022

In relation to the notice sent earlier today please note that:

Class 19 (AEPCOMM/NCCC) Approved Arrangements do not expire until 30 June 2027 therefore  in relation to class 19.1 and 19.2 there is NO action required.

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) have engaged with the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (the department) in relation to the Approved Arrangement renewal process.

All approved arrangements (AAs) are approved for a specified period under section 409 of the Biosecurity Act 2015.

At the end of the specified period, the AA expires.

The expiry date for many AAs is 30 June 2022 (six years from the commencement of the Act on 1 July 2016.

Biosecurity industry participants who hold an AA which is due to expire on 30 June 2022 will need to reapply for an approved arrangement.

The department is contacting biosecurity industry participants (through the AA Manager via email), outlining what is required.

Reapplications are subject to the legislated consideration period of 90 days.

This means to avoid your AA expiring,

Reapplications will need to be lodged by 31 March 2022.

Where reapplications are not finalised before the expiry date, the AA will expire on the expiry date.

This means biosecurity activities cannot be undertaken from the date of expiry until the approval of the new approved arrangement.

If you have any further questions, please contact aa.canberra@awe.gov.au or visit the approved arrangements webpages on the department's website:
