COVID-19 update 15 November 2021: Changes to the maritime border came into effect at 11.59pm on Saturday 13 November 2021. This reduces the length of isolation period required from 14 days to 10. Auckland is at Alert Level 3 Step 2. Parts of the Waikato are also at Alert Level 3 Step 2 and will move to Alert Level 2 at 11:59pm on Tuesday 16 November 2021. Upper Northland and the rest of New Zealand is at Alert Level 2. All non-New Zealand citizens must be fully vaccinated before travelling to New Zealand by air and spend seven days in an MIQ facility followed by home isolation until they return a negative day nine test. All travellers to New Zealand (except those from Antarctica and most Pacific Islands) must have a COVID-19 test taken and a negative test result returned within 72 hours of their first scheduled international flight.
