While we often marvel at the sophistication of modern supply chains, some of worst historic aspects of supply chains remain. It is estimated that 25 million people worldwide are subject to forced labour. About 16 million of these people are exploited by global supply chains that involve private enterprise. It should come as no surprise then that there is strong support for legislation banning the importation of goods produced by forced labour. However, for that strong support to be transformed into legislation passed by Government, the law will need to be workable for small business and logistics professionals.
