The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (DAWE) is inviting agricultural exporters to take part in research with the department as it designs and delivers new services. The research will help the department improve its services to agricultural exporters.
Research with exporters is a core part of the digital transformation led by the Taking Farmers to Market program. The program supports the Ag2030 goal of growing the agricultural sector to $100 billion by 2030.
Australia exports around two-thirds of its agricultural goods. There are plenty of people with useful insights to share.
How to register your interest
Interested exporters can register their details using DAWE's Trade Reform Research Panel form.
DAWE will contact participants for research activities at any point over the next two years. It's voluntary and participants can opt out at any time.
Research sessions include interviews, surveys or testing prototypes. Depending on the commodity, research sessions could seek to understand things such as:
- pain points in the exporting journey
- where contact with the department or user experience needs improvement
- opportunities to streamline exporting and reporting
- whether users would find a proposed product or service useful.
Involving exporters in a co-design process helps create services that are easier to use and understand. This will reduce the time and effort needed to work with government in the future.
Research is informing change
DAWE has already started research with exporters. Participants in different commodities have explained that they want:
- to understand what's expected of them
- standards they need to meet, and steps they need to take
- one place to track, monitor and manage export interactions with DAWE.
Insights like these, and ongoing research, are informing the changes that will help boost Australia's exports. Reaching Ag2030's $100 billion goal will drive job creation and economic growth. It will take government and industry working together to reach these goals.
