Outdoors

You must wear a face mask outdoors when you are unable to stay 1.5 metres away from people who are not from your household (including at public transport waiting areas or taxi ranks and in outdoor workplaces) unless:

Indoors

You must wear a face mask at all times when you are indoors, including workplaces unless:

  • you can stay 1.5 metres away from others (only in your workplace)
  • you are at your residence and there is no one else there except people you live with
  • you are eating or drinking

Schools and childcare: Masks must be worn by teachers and staff, plus all students in high school regardless of their age.

There are some other exceptions to wearing face masks, including for children under 12 (unless they are in high school) and people with particular medical conditions or disabilities. If in doubt, wear a face mask.

Masks must also be worn at an airport, and on a domestic or international flight departing or arriving in Queensland.
