Home Affairs Type 3 Digital Certificate Replacement

Thursday, September 23, 2021

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) has been advised by the Department of Home Affairs existing Type 3 digital certificate will be replaced with a new SHA2 Gatekeeper certificate on 29 September 2021.as outlined in ACN 2021-39

This means that users who send messages to the Integrated Cargo System (in both Industry Test and Production), using electronic data interchange (EDI) must continue to use the current Home Affairs certificate until 23:59, 28 September 2021 and must switch to the new Home Affairs certificate from 29 September 2021.

This replacement does not affect any digital certificates you or your organisation may have purchased.

The change is related to Home Affairs Gatekeeper's Certificate, -NOT the Device Certificate purchased by the users.

We have contacted FTA Sponsors (WiseTech Global, BluJay/Expedient) who confirmed they will be communicating directly with users regarding the change.

Note that It is recommended that users should manage message submission earlier on 28th September, as ICS will have 4 hours outage on 29th September from 00:00-04:00 and it may cause backlog delay with message processing in ICS when the system is running again.
