Australia is investing in the security and wellbeing of our region by helping our Pacific neighbours identify and prevent money laundering.

AUSTRAC is working with Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) in a number of countries to build their capacity to interrupt financial crimes including corruption, cybercrime and the process of narcotics trafficking

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on face-to-face meetings and these initiatives now rely heavily on virtual interfacing.

In response to requests for assistance from FIUs to improve online connectivity for meetings and training, AUSTRAC is offering video conferencing kits to 7 Pacific nations: Fiji, Nauru, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Papua New Guinea, and Vanuatu.

The conferencing kits include a laptop, software and other equipment that will be gifted to each intelligence unit for their exclusive ownership and use.

The sustainable IT communications solutions will ensure each unit can reliably access meetings, international forums, training, webinars, and remote technical assistance.

AUSTRAC is one of the world's most advanced FIUs and has been a long-time partner to other intelligence units in our region. The partnering between nations is an acknowledgement that we are stronger when we work together.

AUSTRAC is looking forward to working with Pacific counterparts in person when the COVID-19 travel restrictions end.
