CEO WELCOME
________________

Welcome to this month's edition of Port News.

With South East Queensland recently coming out of a strict COVID-19 lockdown and other parts of the state and country also impacted, I wanted to reassure you that PBPL-managed facilities and sites are operating in accordance with the Government's health directives.

Like many of our customers, we continue to provide essential services that support the ongoing operation of the Port and keep trade flowing. We have also supported the Government in establishing a COVID testing site at the BMT for interstate truck drivers. More details are below.

I would like to thank all customers, stakeholders and the community for your ongoing support and partnership as we again navigate another challenging period for our industry and community.

UPDATE COVID TESTING FOR INTERSTATE TRUCK DRIVERS
________________

With the support of PBPL, Queensland Health and the Department of Transport and Main Roads have set up a COVID-19 Testing Station for Interstate Truck Drivers at the BMT (58 Port Drive, Port of Brisbane). The testing station is open Monday to Sunday, between 6.00am to 5.00pm, weather permitting.

There will be minimal disruption to BMT operations, but please be aware that site entry and exit arrangements have been modified, so please follow signage on-site.

We were pleased to welcome Minister for Transport and Main Roads, Mark Bailey MP to the site earlier this week.

The testing station is designed to cater for truck drivers who transit state borders to comply with recent government announcements.
Please refer to QLD Health website for details.

VALE DOUGLAS PYE
________________

It is with sadness that we wish to inform the port community that Douglas Pye, born in Ipswich 1925 and appointed to the Port of Brisbane Authority Board on 6 December 1976, has passed away aged 95.

A champion of waterfront working conditions and wages, Douglas served four terms on the Board, retiring in December 1988 after 12 years of service.  We are grateful for his invaluable service and contribution to the development of the Port.

Port of Brisbane sends our sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

EVENTS UPDATE
________________

In light of current government public health directives, we are reviewing the way we deliver some upcoming events and other port-wide initiatives.

While some events will be postponed, others will move into virtual formats.

We will provide more details once confirmed and look forward to continuing to bring the port community together throughout the year.
