Knock Knock. Who's there?

Drawing attention to our most unwanted visitors

Thank you for visiting our 2021 environmental biosecurity webinar series Have Your Say page. We will update this page with recordings, slides, links and information related to each webinar as they happen.

Focus

Our webinar series focus this year is the National Priority List of Exotic Environmental Pests, Weeds and Diseases. It's also known as the Exotic Environmental Pest List (EEPL)(External link).

Over a series of 7 monthly webinars, we will share:

  • why environmental biosecurity matters
  • how the EEPL was developed
  • how the risks identified could affect our environment, public spaces, heritage and way of life.

It is important to note that the EEPL is focused on exotic (not established) pests, weeds and diseases that affect Australia's environment and amenity. It complements existing pest lists and strategies in biosecurity. Other exotic pest lists include: the top 42 National Priority Plant Pests(External link), the Australian Priority Marine Pest List(External link) and the National list of notifiable animal diseases(External link).

For established pests there is the Australian Pest Animal Strategy(External link), the Australian Weeds Strategy(External link) and the Weeds of National Significance(External link).

Hi everyone, I would like to express my sincere apologies for the IT issues we experienced today with our second webinar 'Connecting the EEPL to the people'. An unforseen glitch meant that no registrants external to the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment were able to join. Over 100 of you emailed to let us know your disappointment, and we thank you for your patience and persistence as we attempted to rectify the issue.

As a result of so many of you being able to join we are hoping to expedite uploading of the recording of the session to this site by the end of this week (stay tuned!) so that you don't miss out on the fantastic presentations given by Andrew Pearce and Katerina Ng.

Due to the delays and tech issues experienced we didn't host a Q&A session after the presentations - instead we invite you to view the recording when it becomes available and submit your questions to this forum, and/or join Andrew and Katerina in a live Q&A session that we will host (on 'normal' Teams) later next week so they can respond to any questions you may have.

Again we appreciate your patience, apologise for the issues, and hope that you enjoy the recording when it becomes available, join us for the postponed Q&A session, and of course continue to join us for our future webinars where we will be exploring EEPL pathways, pests and ecosystems (where fingers crossed the tech is better behaved!). Elyse
