Reminder - Revised Minimum documentary and import declaration requirements policy

Thursday, July 29, 2021

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) wish to advise that  the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (the department) has issued Industry Advice Notice 162-2021 as a reminder of changes to the Minimum documentary and import declaration requirements policy

What has changed?

On 3 June 2021, the department published Import Industry Advice Notice (113-2021) detailing the revised requirements of the Minimum documentary and import declaration requirements policy.

The revised policy requirements will take effect on Monday, 2 August 2021. Documentation for goods exported to Australia on or after this date must meet the revised policy requirements.

The revised policy and a table of changes outlining key changes to the policy can be found on the department's website

To assist clients in meeting the revised requirements of the policy, a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) sheet has been prepared and is also available on the department's website.

An alert has also been generated in the department's Biosecurity Import Conditions (BICON) database.

Import Industry Advice Notice (152-2021) was also released on 13 July 2021 detailing changes specific to fumigation certificates.

Importers and their agents are encouraged to cascade the information about the updated documentary requirements through their supply chains to ensure entities who issue documents are aware of the changes.
