CSMR 2020-21 survey questions - cargo.docx

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peal Shippers Association (APSA) continue to maintain close engagement with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and the Freight Industry Reference Panel – both have reached out seeking feedback from FTA / APSA members for input into the following surveys.

As critical representatives of the freight supply chain, we encourage members to take the time to share experiences and insights.

ACCC STEVEDORE MONITORING REPORT

By way of background, the ACCC has been reporting on container stevedoring for over 20 years and recognise that the industry dynamics have changed significantly over this period, particularly in the last 5-10 years.

To assist their understanding of the industry for the next Container Stevedoring Monitoring Report, the ACCC has decided to conduct surveys with market participants across the entire freight supply chain. The surveys will be seeking views on the key issues including rising costs in the freight supply chain and changes in both the shipping and stevedore industries.

NATIONAL FREIGHT AND SUPPLY CHAIN SURVEY

Each year the survey aims to gauge:
  • Awareness of the action areas
  • Whether you consider governments are working on 'the right things' to deliver results and
  • How well you think the actions are progressing.
This year, the Panel is also seeking broader industry views on:
  • Reflections on the Strategy and ongoing lessons learned from COVID
  • The burden of unnecessary freight-related regulation
  • Innovation across the sector
  • Community attitudes to freight.
