Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) have received the following notification from Patrick Terminals this evening in terms of Protected Industrial Action at the container terminals nationally.
Additional Industrial Action notifications have been received from the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) for our Fremantle, Melbourne and Brisbane terminals - details of this new action are highlighted in bold below in the notifications list.
Once again, we are disappointed that the MUA has decided to proceed with industrial action despite regular bargaining discussions being held with key representatives of the union with the aim of reaching a mutually agreed enterprise agreement. The industrial action, combined with the MUA's industrial action on Svitzer (Australia's largest tug boat operator) is creating schedule delays and uncertainty for our customers' shipping services. As the COVID-19 situation begins to impact our country again, the union seems intent on causing disruption for Australia's exporters and importers ultimately impacting households across the country.
The current status at our terminals is as follows:
Patrick Terminals - Sydney AutoStrad- Average Sydney Terminal delays are now: 6.2 days
- Average delay on-window vessels: 4.8 days
- Average delay off-window vessels: 8.2 days
Patrick Terminals - Brisbane AutoStrad- At present, there are no delays to the vessel schedule.
Patrick Terminals - Fremantle- At present, there are no delays to the vessel schedule.
Patrick Terminals - Melbourne- At present, there are no delays to the vessel schedule.

Patrick Terminals - Brisbane AutoStrad- A ban on attending work on days an employee is rostered as "off/avail" commencing from 7am Saturday 15th May 2021 and finishing 11pm Sunday 16 May 2021.

- A ban on the working of shift extensions at East Swanson Dock (Melbourne) commencing at 12:01am Saturday 19 June 2021 until 12:01am Saturday 26 June 2021.
- A stoppage of work of 1-hour duration at 0600, 0700, 1400, 1500, 2200 and 2300 on each day from Tuesday 29 June 2021 to Friday 2 July 2021 (inclusive of those days) - reducing shift duration by 2 hours on each shift.
- Stoppage of work of 24 hours duration commencing at 0700 on 23 July 2021.
